Unshackle Upstate Director Visits Seneca County for Chamber Event

(Seneca Falls, NY) The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed Greg Biryla, Executive Director of Unshackle Upstate, to Seneca Falls as part of the Chamber’s Coffee & Conversation Series sponsored by Holiday Inn Waterloo/Seneca Falls.
Biryla reviewed the adopted 2016 New York State Budget with Chamber membership and addressed concerns in regards to the minimum wage increase, paid family leave program, infrastructure, tax cuts and economic development.
Chamber members also learned about current advocacy efforts intended to improve the state’s business climate. As part of a coalition of advocates, Unshackle Upstate and the Seneca County Chamber have submitted recommendations to the Governor’s temporary commission to review the business climate in New York State. The recommendations include: Workers Compensation reform, Wicks Law reform, suggestions to reduce the cost of private health care, additional reductions for small business taxes, Medical Liability reform and reform to the state’s antiquated Scaffold Law.
