winemaker-wednesday_ad-2014_240x400Event: Winemaker Wednesdays, January

Location: The many participating, member wineries of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Date/Time: January 8, 2014, various times

Description: Winemaker Wednesdays is really for one kind of person: the type of person that not only loves to drink wine, but adores learning about it, talking to people about it, experiencing it. Certainly everybody is invited to this limited series of unique, custom winery experiences, though it has been conceived for passionate, curious fans of wine, winemaking and all that goes into that. Each winery has crafted some kind of unique, or special event or activity for these days. And the programs may change from one Wednesday to the next. It is necessary for you to call the winery and make an appointment for these, and at that time you can confirm their offering. The reason an appointment is required, is because many wineries commit one or two members of their senior leadership (owner and/or winemaker or vineyard manager, oftentimes) to conduct the program, and typically those individuals have  a slew of other tasks and chores they should be doing, and appointments enable them to manage their time best. Some of these offerings have fees associated with them, most do not. Most have limited time constraints, some do not. Every Winemaker Wednesday takes place on the second Wednesday of the given month. For a more detailed list of the varying opportunities offered by the participating wineries please visit our website.

Location: The 9 participating, member wineries of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Date/Time: January 25, 2014, 10am-5pm

Description: The Seneca Lake Wine Trail has partnered up with the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail, and developed a relatively new series of smaller, deluxe, one-day events in the first quarter of 2014. Each event is Saturday only, and enables attendees to visit several different member wineries, each of which will be hosting knowledgeable staff from their partner creamery, enabling attendees to enjoy 3-4 pairings of fantastic, local cheese paired with 3-4 samples of that winery’s award-winning wines. In some instances, the individual creamery may specialize in one type of cheese, in which case you can determine which of the wines you think pairs best with that cheese. In other instances, the creamery may have 3-4 different cheeses paired up with 3-4 different wines. The creamery representative will make a brief presentation about their facility as the event starts up (which may influence which starting winery you select when purchasing your tickets), making this not only a predictably delicious event, but also an informative one. Each ticket is good only for one of the three events, and merely costs $20 per person. The Preferred Pairings will take place on January 25, February 22 and March 22 and will run from 10am-5pm each of those three days.
