Committees for Seneca County Chamber of Commerce

Chamber Bylaws: Article VI (Committees) – The Chairperson of the Board, by and with the approval of the Board of Directors, shall appoint all committees and committee Chairmen for the following standing committees; Finance/Audit, Economic Development, Tourism, and Ambassadors.  The Chairperson of the Board may appoint such ad hoc committees and their chairmen as deemed necessary to carry out the program of the Chamber.  Committee appointments shall be at the will and pleasure of the Chairperson of the Board and shall serve concurrent with the term of the appointing Chairperson of the Board, unless a different term is approved by the Board of Directors. It shall be the function of committees to make investigations, conduct studies and hearings, make recommendations to the Board of Directors, and to carry on such activities as may be delegated to them by the Board.

Membership Committee

An Ambassador for the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer who is focused on promoting Chamber membership, programs, benefits and services.  He/she will also provide assistance with the preparation and implementation of special events hosted by the Chamber.  Tasks are assigned as needed by the Chamber staff. Public Policy & Advocacy

A committee person  for the Chamber’s Economic Development work-group is a volunteer who takes an active role in advocating business-friendly policies and programs for the benefit of Chamber membership and the community’s overall business climate.  He/she will help advance program recommendations and priority legislation to the full board for discussion. Committee members will also  provide assistance with the promotion and awareness of Chamber programs that help spur economic development and business-friendly initiatives. Tasks are assigned as needed by the Chamber staff. Committee Members are:

Finance

Members of the Seneca County Chamber Finance Committee are volunteers who provide oversight of the Chamber’s financial management, advance policies and recommendations to the full board for consideration and establish financial goals and objectives consistent with the Chamber’s overall mission. Finance committee representatives are typically comprised of Chamber board members and leadership — the Chairman of the Board retains the right to appoint at-will members for specific tasks such as the audit committee. Tourism

Tourism Committee representatives are volunteers that help the Chamber promote tourism assets and events, consistent with the Chamber’s mission to be a leading agent of change and spur development in the greater Seneca County community. Volunteers are engaged in helping raise awareness of the people and places of the Central Finger Lakes region — responsible for making tourism among the region’s leading industries. Committee representatives are tasked with helping identify and advance priority tourism initiatives to the Board of Directors. Tasks are assigned as needed by the Chamber staff.
