The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and Hampton Inn Seneca Falls are pleased to announce the Seneca County Area Shopper as the September Business of the Month.
The Seneca County Area Shopper, located in Ovid, NY, is a community-based media company that has been in operation since 2004. The current ownership team of Jim and Bridgette Stewart began in 2009. Together with its sister business, Schuyler County Hi-Lites, the organization has a combined viewership of more than 20,000.
Both publications offer community news and event information as well as providing a forum for local buyers and sellers to advertise goods and services.
“We are proud of the fact that we are a business that hires local people and contributes to the local economy,” said owner Bridgette Stewart. “With all the resources that we have available in our own backyard, we strive to bring added awareness and convenience to our subscribers so they do not have to travel far to find what they’re looking for.”
The Seneca County Area Shopper is also a civic-minded organization. Both Jim and Bridgette are very involved in the local community, sitting on several boards and committees such as Rotary, United Way and the Free Community Papers of New York. Not only is the business a free community newspaper, but they have an in-house design team that can create; business cards, letterhead, event posters, start up materials and other business necessities.
