Hosmer Winery’s Single Wheel Riesling Celebrating Recognition and Accolades
Hosmer Winery’s Single Wheel Riesling is quickly establishing itself among the fast growing number of single-vineyard wines being produced in the Finger Lakes. Made exclusively from a 3-acre block of grapes grown in Hosmer’s Patrician Verona Vineyard, the Single Wheel 2012 Dry Riesling has been earning high praise and recognition.
Since its release 8 months ago, Single Wheel has received:
– 87 in Wine Spectator
– Double Gold in the 2014 International East Meets West Wine Challenge
– Silver in the New York State Fair Wine Competition
– Silver in the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition
What makes Single Wheel stand out? The wine is a glimpse, a snapshot of a single moment in time, and this moment is worth witnessing.
The New York Cork Report attributes the appeal of the single-vineyard wine not only to conveying a clear sense of place, “but also by including the added dimension of vintage.” Der Kellermeister describes the Single Wheel’s aroma as “razor sharp,” the experience as “lively” and “refreshing. This wine “is well balanced, has good structure and lasts through a fairly long finish. It is perfectly drinkable now but it will likely gain from a few years of maturing.”

About Hosmer Winery:
With a vineyard established in the early 1970s, Hosmer Winery opened it’s doors in 1985 on the west bank of Cayuga Lake on the principle that great wines start in the vineyard. We farm 70 acres of 14 different grape varieties on the family estate. Primarily vinifera, our vines are 25 to 30+ years old, growing on deep Cazenovian soils. The quality of wine that is captured in our bottles is a direct product of our pristine vineyards and thoughtful growing practices. As a full estate winery, we are able to insure the quality of every grape, from the roots to your glass.
