Finger Lakes Winery wins 2014 Governor’s Cup
For the second year in a row, New York’s famous Finger Lakes region was proudly displayed as another area winery won the top spot, being named the 2014 Governor’s Cup Winner. Congratulations to Gene Pierce and the entire team at Chateau LaFayette Reneau, who received their trophy honoring their 2013 Semi-Dry Riesling that was chosen from nearly 900 entries. The winner was announced on August 13 at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel following the 2014 Governor’s Cup Finger Lakes Wine and Craft Beverage Tour. The event included industry officials from across the state visiting the region, where they were transported by motor coach buses to various properties for tours and tastings. The day concluded with a cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony that featured comments by local and state officials including New York Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy.
